QUOTE Nissan unveiled yet another concept edition of its next-generation Skyline GT-R. It is called the GT-R Proto (as in prototype), and a production version is coming to America. Eventually. This, though, shows more refined aerodynamics and is much closer to sharing the design of current Nissan cars and Infiniti cars. The company says the concept gives “a clear indication of the final design direction” for the new model. The 2008 Skyline is likely to be badged as an Infiniti, Which could be expected as Nissan GT-R 2008 or 2007 or Skyline GTR R35 or even as an Infinity GT-R. But the Skyline name is not set in stone. The production GT R is still another two years away, scheduled for introduction at the next Tokyo show 2007 (the 2008 model year). Thanks to video games and the import tuner craze, the Skyline GTR name has strong recognition and value. Latest estimates move the power target north to 450 hp or even 500 hp, with speculation centering on a twin-turbo variation of the 3.5-liter V6 found in the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35, perhaps with more displacement as well. Others suggest a version of the Infiniti 4.5-liter V8. Nissan says the new car will have its own body, not one derived from a production sedan range (Skyline) as before. The car called Skyline today on the Japan market is the one we know as the Infinity G-35, designated V (version) 35 of that platform. The unique body proclamation suggests the new GT-R isn't just the hot version of the next G35. Aber Bilder sagen doch viel mehr aus
